Mellon Foundation Fellowships

Veronica Shi

MMUF ’11

Veronica Shi (Princeton University ’11) graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor’s in Classics in 2011, and is now pursuing an M.A. in Greek and Latin Literature at Oxford.

Veronica competes in crew for her college when she’s not doing research, teaching Latin to undergraduates, or putting on the next production of a Classical play.

This past January, she gave a paper on Horace’s Odes at the annual meeting of the American Philological Association in Seattle. Veronica also co-produced An Evening With The Gods at Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum, in which the whole museum was transformed for one night into Mount Olympus and filled with priestesses, gladiators, Roman mimes, and many other characters from the ancient world.

After completing her Master’s, Veronica plans to take this year off to travel and write. Once she returns to the States, Veronica plans to pursue a Ph.D. and continue her mission of making classics accessible and fun for everyone.
