Founded in 1855, TCNJ has become an exemplar of the best in public higher education and is consistently acknowledged as one of the top comprehensive colleges in the nation. TCNJ currently is ranked as one of the 75 “Most Competitive” schools in the nation by Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges and is rated the No. 1 public institution in the northern region of the country by U.S. News & World Report. Teacher Preparation at TCNJ

TCNJ_campus2TCNJ’s redesigned STEM Masters of Arts in Teaching Program will be structured as a cohort model to help assure that Teaching Fellows build a supportive sense of community. While it is still under design, TCNJ anticipates that its program will have the following characteristics:

1.  The program will be approximately 36 credits and will be completed in approximately one calendar year.

2.  The Teaching Fellows will enter a full-time clinical experience that mirrors the K-12 academic year. Teaching Fellows shall be placed with well qualified cooperating teachers who shall be educated on the Program structure and goals. Cooperating teachers will be selected by the hosting districts in consultation with TCNJ.

3.  TCNJ will select highly-regarded practitioners as mentors for fellows. Mentors shall collaborate to form a learning community that meets regularly outside of the classroom. This face-to-face community shall be supplemented by a vibrant online forum to sustain and further develop that community.
