Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), a research and academic health sciences university in downtown Indianapolis, operates as a partnership between Indiana and Purdue Universities. The IU system's second-largest campus, with 22 academic units and more than 29,000 students, IUPUI was one of 25 universities nationally ranked as "Saviors of Our Cities" in 2006.
